The End of an Era - Mika Kojonkoski

I find it that now, in trying to write about Mika Kojonkoski, that there is not so much to say. Of course, there are the biographical information, but those don’t really mean much. Because what he was, as seen through the TV lens, was not a grand personality, but a force that kept things together and working. I can hardly remember a time when he wasn’t the Norwegian coach, I was too young then, and in my whole perspective upon the sport he was a key element.

He has always been there, in the background, raising great ski-jumpers like Sigurd Pettersen, Lars Bystoel, Bjoern Einar Romoeren, Anders Jacobsen, Tom Hilde. He was never in the spotlight himself as a ski jumper, but he managed to built an amazing Norwegian team that has made history.

Ski jumping as I have known it will never be the same, and I just know that for years to come I will recollect these wonderful years with nostalgia.

Best of luck in what is to come!
