Planica - Letalnica Bratov Gorisek
I have always found most beautiful the way the hill in Planica looks against the mountain. Of course it was not this size when it was first built in 1969. It is a K185 HS 215 hill, and the way it is placed on the mountainside is supposed to protect the jumpers from wind changes. Also, it is considered that mornings are the best time for jumping on Letalnica.
It was rebuilt between 1993 and 1994, and at the time it was the largest ski flying hill in the world. Just after it’s inauguration it, the first jump over 200 m was achieved by Toni Nieminen (FIN) - 203 m.
The hill record was made by Bjoern Einar Romoeren in 2005 when he flew 239.0 m. Until this year this was also the world record.
